The PROMAX/BDA conference was held in New York City recently and our dear friend and colleague, Susan Kantor, was one of four honored with a Brand Builders Award. Yay! Broadcasting & Cable’s article on her (love the pix btw) she mentioned the line Jax Creative came up with for The Ellen Degeneres Show, Watch The Best Part of Your Day. Susan goes on to say “We did that campaign two years ago and it really stuck, which makes me as a marketer very happy.”  Kantor continues with “When you get it right, it can last a long time… and consistency in messaging will make it work harder.” And may we add that consistency in creatives doesn’t hurt either.

Text Me Tyra

tyratextny_4tyratextny_3tyratextla_2tyratextchicago_1This was one of four wild postings we did in major urban markets. Warner Brothers actually came to us for a one-off ad to promote Tyra’s talk show for the fall but, after reviewing their brief we felt a strategic marketing campaign would be more bang for their buck. Our campaign strategically placed the headlines over Tyra’s mouth to promote her TALK show (as opposed to that other model show of hers).  It not only generated awareness for The Tyra Banks Show but, also created tune-in with a text message watch and win contest. Viewers were able to sign up to receive real time texts from Tyra  — yeah, we were tweeting before twittering was cool, we’re just sayin’ — and text her show ideas, comments, whatever. It was a huge hit and tied into on-air, Tyra’s own blog page and websites.

Which came first, the chicken or the blog?

istock_000003082509xsmallWe’ve been trying to update our website to be current with today’s internet standards. Thus, this new Word Press Blog. Is it generic looking? Uh, yeah?! Our esteemed and very-much-in-demand web developer feels it’s not about the way the site ‘looks’ but, what we’re ’saying’ on the site. Thus, applying the design (a.k.a. skins) is not the priority until we have more content. We agree content is key but, when it comes to the business of branding we’ve got one problem. What we LOOK like SAYS everything about us. Our language is visual and our audience — other branding agencies, artisits, marketers, potential clients — whom we’d like to come and read what we’ve got to say, are eye-candy addicts. Our fellow design junkies will take one look at this boiler plate site and say “WTF? Where’s the ‘creative’ in Jax Creative?”

We designed this e-commerce website for a N.Y.-based Jewelry Designer, Heather Morra. Also, we created a program on the back end, that gave her full control of her products, images and pricing on the front end.
